Our Covid-19 Safety Measures

Dear Guest

The team at Koedoeskloof is committed to offering the best possible guest experience amid the COVID-19 pandemic. We recognize that this is a challenging time for all, but remain deeply committed to the safety of all guests, employees and the community at large. Even though things might work a little differently here, you can rest assured that it is done with everybody’s safety in mind.

We have consulted with the appropriate WHO and Tourism and Hospitality resources for accurate and up-to-date information, and have used this information to put safety measures in place. We are also actively monitoring the situation and are on standby to implement immediate changes to ensure an even higher level of hygiene and safety measures should this be required.

We have taken numerous precautions to ensure the hygiene and safety of our guests and staff.

These include:  

Training & Safety of Staff

  • Applicable Health and Safety measures have been put in place to educate and inform our staff of these protocols in all staff areas as well as other areas on the property.
  • All staff members will be closely monitored for any of the COVID-19 symptoms every morning prior to commencement of duties.  This includes screening and temperature checking as well as recording results on appropriate screening checklists.
  • The required safety and assistance protocols will be followed should a staff member show any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • All staff will follow the required protocols which include regular washing and sanitizing of hands, wearing of masks and gloves and practising social distancing.  

Guest Safety

  • All guests entering the property will be screened and temperature tested upon arrival.
  • All guests will be required to wear face masks when entering the property and when engaging with any staff member or other guests present on the property.
  • Social interactions are discouraged between guests and other guests, as well as guests and staff members. This excludes people travelling together.
  • Guests will be prompted to follow the same personal hygiene protocols of washing hands regularly, using the provided hand sanitizer which has been made available throughout the property and practising social distancing.
  • Extra hand sanitizers and paper towels have been made available in common areas and all of the guest bedrooms.

Rooms and Common Areas

  • Even though our guest rooms have always been cleaned to the highest standard we’ve added additional stringent cleaning protocols for cleaning preceding guest arrivals and once guests have departed.
  • All extra items that might increase the risk of transmission have been removed from the rooms and common areas. These include complementary toiletry items, magazines, books, leaflets, extra soft furnishings.
  • All surfaces are disinfected and sanitized before arrivals. Special care is taken to disinfect those surfaces that are touched often including items such as door keys, door knobs, window fittings, blind strings, taps and loose standing self-service coffee/tea tray items.

Kitchen and Food

  • Our kitchen and waitering staff and follow strict hygiene protocols which now include additional measures including the wear of PVC facemasks, disposable gloves and disposable facemasks.
  • All food dispensers are cleaned with disinfectant wipes after use and all surfaces wiped down and cleaned with SABS approved safe sanitizers and biodegradable surface cleaners as specified by the WHO.  
  • Hand-held menu’s will not be available as to minimise contact surface exposure.
  • Tables will be wiped down with disinfectant cleaner before and after each guest sitting.
  • Social distancing has been put in place with tables splaced at least 2 meters apart.
  • Floor decals at bar area indicate required social distancing measures if other guests are present. Guest numbers are kept low to ensure ample space for all when inside the bar and restaurant area.
  • No events will be hosted until the lockdown is lifted.
  • No alcohol will be served until the alcohol ban is lifted.
  • Guest socialising before and after meals are strongly discouraged.

We can assure you that we have made every effort to do our part to help manage this pandemic by ensuring our guesthouse is as safe and hygienically clean as possible for our guests. We are also aware of the fact that we are all responsible for our own safety and of all of those people around us, and therefore encourage you to follow the suggested protocols as set out above.

We are in a rural area with clean fresh air, abundant nature and lots of space and in an area where only 1 COVID-19 positive case has been recorded (and now recovered) to date. We are extremely proud to be part of such a vigilant community.
